During testing, two different groups of microorganisms must be distinguished and evaluated separately. Not all microorganisms in food are harmful. In fact, many foods naturally contain large amounts of microorganisms, without which the production of items such as cheese or yogurt would not even be possible.
What are spoilage organisms?
So-called spoilage organisms are undesirable, but they are not harmful to you as a consumer. They play a major role in determining the shelf life of a product. Spoilage organisms are mainly bacteria and fungi that unintentionally enter the food during the production process.
Since this can never be completely avoided in untreated, raw foods, the goal of good hygiene is to reduce the number of microorganisms to a minimum. These microorganisms continue to multiply slowly. For this reason, each food group has guideline and limit values that are monitored by the State Testing Authority.
Because not all categories of dietary supplements—and therefore not all products from True Nutrition Technology—are officially classified as food, no guideline values apply here. Nevertheless, we have all values tested for our entire product range!
What are pathogens?
Pathogens, also known as pathogenic microorganisms, are—just as the name suggests—disease-causing germs. By law, they must not be detectable in ready-to-eat foods.

What happens if…?
In the unlikely event that pathogens are found in our products, we would immediately initiate a recall. In addition, we have an agreement with our contract packager to inform them right away so that all necessary measures can be taken without delay. The key step here would be to eliminate the source of contamination. A so-called step-by-step inspection would then determine at which stage of processing the contamination occurred. In the more than 20-year history of our contract packager, however, this has never been necessary!
